It is with great sadness that the family announce that their brother and uncle Robert James Martin passed away peacefully on May 20, 2008 at his home at Pinecrest Home for The Aged.
Robert was born on October 22, 1928 in Blue Township, Ontario where he was raised on the farm. In 1970 Robert moved Fort Frances where he lived with his parents.
After his parents passing Robert moved to Kenora under the care of Community Living where he lived interdependently until he moved into Pinecrest Home of the Aged in November 2003. While there he lived a very happy and contented life.
Robert enjoyed his nightly bingo games where he was well known, always carrying a large shoulder bag full of dabblers which were precious to him.
Robert enjoyed the company of family and friends. He proudly displayed pictures of his family in his room. He enjoyed a good party-especially his own birthday.
Robert was predeceased by his loving parents George and Beatrice Martin; sisters Hazel and Ruby; brothers Donald and Thomas; sister-in-law Julie Martin; nephews Lenard Martin and Jim Hutchins.
He is survived by his only brother Ken (Madeline) Martin; nephews and nieces Melvin (Dorothy) Martin, Earl (Fern) Martin, Susan, Gordon, Jim (Diane) and David (Loretta) Martin. Judy (Roy) Williamson, Bev (Brent) Strachan, Murray (Klara) Hutchins, Linda Martin, Carol (James) Miller, Marie (Kevin) Cumberland, Judith Martin, Dennis (Barbara) Martin, Sharon Miller and Rennie Miller and their families.
A memorial service was held on Friday, May 30th, 2008 at the United Church in Rainy River, ON with Reverend Barbara Miller.
Cremation has taken place at the Rainy River Crematory in International Falls, MN with interment in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Rainy River, ON.
