The sixth annual Alzheimer Walk for Memories was again a resounding success again this year!
While only four people returned pledge sheets, they raised an impressive $1,365. They were joined by another eight people who went in the walk without collecting pledges.
At the top of the fund raising list was Pat Berg of Rainy River. She raised $782 by herself. That won her a free hotel room in Dryden at the Holiday Inn.
Also turning in impressive pledge sheets were:
Skylar Ivall-$232
Georgia Kreger-$170
Mike Mosher-$181
Wood’s Quality Bakery supplied complimentary cookies for the participants and sandwiches and beverages were available.
Kenora-Rainy River Alzheimer Soc. Exec. Dir. Margaret Schonewille, said that Rainy River did quite well again this year. “Fort Frances had 12 participants and raised $1,878.35.”
All the proceeds from the local walks will stay in this area for Alzheimer programs.
Schonewille also noted that they appreciate the Legion for the use of their bathrooms and parking lot to stage the event and Dawn Jarvis for helping with registration and Marlene McNally for putting up posters.
