BZZZZZAP!
Well electricity seemed to be on everyone's minds Monday morning, especially ours here at the Record.
To start the day off we, like many parts of the area were without electricity.
The first thing we heard was that it was going to be out until 11:30 a.m.... fortunately that was wrong. It was on by about 9 a.m.
Then we started playing catch up... losing a couple of hours of work time in the morning on a Monday (our production day) is not good.
But shortly after we started the task of getting the paper together we discovered that electricity affected our production in a negative way even before the power went off.
On Sunday afternoon a loud crack of thunder followed a big bolt of lightning that hit TBay Tel's tower in Rainy River. That knocked out high speed internet service for the community, something we rely heavily on.
A phone call to them yielded that service might not be back up until late Monday or even Tuesday.
So we had to adapt. I went home and pulled the weather forecast, our poll results and the Network Classifieds off the net with my slow but working dial-up service. We had some things faxed to us and had to retype them.
Electricity Bzzapped us good... hope it doesn't happen again for a long while.
