RR Record wins national honour
The Rainy River Record received word last week that the paper has been honoured at the national newspaper competition with a blue ribbon for general excellence! "
The Record has won more than 20 awards in the past twelve years and this accolade for general excellence truly reflects the staff's commitment to producing a top notch product," said Managing Editor Ken Johnston.
In order to qualify for the national competition papers have to finish in the top five in their respective provincial competitions. They are judged on several levels, including Front Page, Community News, Presentation, Photography, Ad Content, Ad Design, Classified Ads, Local Features, Sports, Production Quality and Editorial Page. The Record scored 720 out of 1000 in the Ontario competitions, just 75 points out of first place and finished 5th.
