You are here
My next trip could be to retire there!
Dear Editor:
I really enjoyed Grant Drive!! This was my second trip to Rainy River to visit my sister Pat and brother-in-law George Acree.
The timing was right and I was here to enjoy all the festivities of the annual block party on Grant Drive that they were hosting this year.
Although the weather didn't quite cooperate, it didn't dampen the spirit and camaraderie of the people who showed up to enjoy the day. Bobby supplied an excellent choice of music and the ladies and men of Grant Drive brought over a gourmet selection of food to share. So much to choose from and I'm sure I came back to B.C. a few pounds heavier.
Lots of games, lots of prizes, lots of fun for everyone. The horseshoe tournament was also a big hit. Ed, the new guy on the block, was the lucky winner of the bird house that George built for the door prize. We ended the evening sitting around a camp fire pleased with how well the day had gone knowing how much closer the neighbours had become.
Although my time here was too short, I went home well rested, well fed and only one mosquito bite. The boat trips to go fishing, the clean air and the sounds of all the birds make me realize just how much I am missing out on living in the big city. Now I am back to sirens, smog and endless noise.
I look forward to my next trip to Grant Drive and to meet all the friendly people again.
I am grateful to Pat & George and Rainy River for the best holiday ever! My next trip here could be to enjoy my retirement somewhere on Grant Drive!
Sincerely ,
