The McInnes Chapel Board meeting was held on Sunday, Sept 7th, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel with seventeen members in attendance. The meeting was called to order by President, Bob Locking. Secretary, Carol Jenson, read the minutes from the August meeting, with no errors or omissions, and they were accepted as read. The Treasurer’s Report was then given by Vivian Locking.
Business was as follows
Vivian reported that two new benches were purchased for the cemetery from monies designated from contributors for that purpose.
Discussion centred around procuring gravel for the old gravesites on Antonson Road. Bob will see that it gets done. Dialogue continued regarding getting a charity number and a unanimous vote was taken against proceeding with it at this time. We decided we will continue with writing up our bylaws. Thanks to Vivian and Carol for working on this.
A tentative date was set for our Christmas Supper (4:30-6:30) and Hymn Sing (7:00 p.m.) on Sat., Dec. 6th, 2008.
We decided we’d also put our shoulder to the wheel and do some painting and maintenance on Tues., Sept. 23rd.
The ladies decided they would use the time also to do up our shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child. Susan Douglas reported that soaps, washcloths, etc. had been donated for this cause and we have a bucket of tiny toys to work with. Everyone was encouraged to bring small items for the shoe boxes. We’ll hold our regular Chapel meeting and pot luck lunch also on the 23rd.
Gordie Drennan collected signatures for get well and birthday cards to be distributed to members.
The business part of the meeting came to a closure at 3 p.m.
Everyone enjoyed the delicious pot luck lunch. Freewill offering was accepted.
Happy Birthday was sung to all the August birthday people. A delicious birthday banana cake was created and served by Vivian.
Our next meeting will be Sept.23rd 2008, at the Chapel.
