Dawson’s fire department organized a family barbeque in Pinewood at the ballpark on Saturday, September 143h.
Although it was overcast throughout the day, it didn’t stop the kids and adults from enjoying the day at the park.
It ran from 11:00 to 4:00 and saw kid’s games and some public education happening throughout the afternoon, not to mention the free barbeque.
Throughout the afternoon, over 70 people, both adults and kids, took in the activities. Many of the youngsters were able to operate the fire hoses, tried on the fire fighter’s gear, experienced the Scott air packs, took a ride in the department’s bus and became a bit more familiar with how the pumper actually works. Overall, the Dawson firefighters were quite pleased with the turnout and experience. Next year they look forward to having another one.
