Arena to take bottle returns now

By Meghan Shanks
Rec. Director

The fall has been a very busy season, and we are starting to get our winter activities organized.
Some new activities that we will be offering this winter include 3 on 3 adult hockey, drop-in broomball, and fitness classes.
The fitness program will be held in the upstairs of Rec centre and take place during mid-November. Meghan will be taking her fitness instructors course at the beginning of November, to better accommodate Rainy River.
We will be having an adult sport night, although the dates have not been set yet due to delay of dates for other organizational activities.
The Rec Centre is also taking over for the bottle drop-off for Rainy River, we will be open November 4th and our days of operation are Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. The drop-off is in support of the Rec Centre and the skate park.
We will be accepting anything that comes from the Canadian LCBO and Beer store. We will be giving people money for their bottles, cans, etc. but if they would like to donate part of or all of their refund, that is appreciated. Hours of operation are Tues. and Thurs. 2 p.m. – 7 p.m., Sundays 3 p.m. – 7 p.m. starting Nov 4th. People should bring them to the east side of the building to the new shed.
The service is raising money for the Rec Centre 50% and Skate Park 50%. We ask that people please do not bring empties into the Rec. Centre. We will not be sitting outside waiting for you may have to come and get us from in the building. Also this is a service we are providing so we can turn you away if we don’t have anymore room in the shed or if your bottles are not up to standard.
We are looking for volunteers that are interested in helping raise money for the skate park to help with the bottle drop-off. If you’re interested call the Rec Centre at 852-4446. We will be accepting donated bottles and cans.
We are very excited about the upcoming season, and we hope you will join us at the Rec Centre.
