Registration for 3x3 hockey

By Meghan Shanks
RR Rec. Director

The Rainy River Arena has started its public skating. It’s first one was Halloween night and it went really well, about 20 people showed up to skate and had a great time.
We would just like to remind people that we did receive about 30 helmets last year from a program called “Think First” and these helmets are available and recommended for anyone to use.
This year our sponsored ice time is being used for public skating and broom ball. Broom ball is open to all ages, sticks are not allowed above the waist and it is a non-contact sport. Due to the lack of participants showing up for shinny, it will only be available this year if you take the initiative to organize a minimum of ten participants. Once you have taken the initiative please contact the Rec. Centre (852-4446) to let them know you have enough people so we can schedule ice time for you.
Three on three hockey has turned a lot of heads in Rainy River but we are lacking the dedication and participants signing up for this league. We have already had one registration date for this league, and we are going to have our last and final one on Tuesday, November 18, 2008. You can call the Rec. Centre to register at this date if you are unable to make it to registration that night. This is our last opportunity to make this league run, if we do not receive 32 people then this league will be cancelled for the year.
