Sled season is upon us

The smell of winter is in the air and so are thoughts of snowmobiling. The Borderland Snowmobile Club has had a few meetings already. Trail work has begun and the need for more volunteers is great. Trail passes are for sale at Borderland Esso, in Emo and Brian Russell in Rainy River. There will be more outlets soon. In order to be viable this year the club needs to sell at least 200 - 250 passes. It is do-able. We cannot expect other clubs to keep supporting us, we must be able to stand on our own. Our trails last year were absolutely beautiful, some being almost like a highway, thanks to the hard work done by a handful of volunteers. Lots of riders do not appreciate and even think of all that is being done to try to maintain these trails and unlawfully and shamefully ride for free.
Because of our beautiful trails, we had volunteers from Wpg coming to help clear trails between Nestor Falls and Sioux Narrows. Amazing and appreciated.
Last year Kenora sold over 500 trail passes, Dryden over 300 and Borderland which is Mine Centre, Fort Frances, Emo, Nestor Falls and Rainy River, sadly, only 110.
Many think passes are too expensive, but just reflect for a moment at what you get for your money and what it costs to even go to a concert in Winnipeg or in the U.S.A. For $180.00 you have access to all trails all winter long. The OPP will definitely be on the trails this year, so it is not advisable to ride without a pass.
