Red Hatters start book club in RR

Although they are no longer officially in school, the Les Rouge Rogues of Rainy River, hit the books on Tues. Jan. 13th, 2009. The “Red Hatter Bookworms”, as they’ve dubbed themselves, gathered for their first Book Club sharing session, at The Smiling Moon, in Baudette. The table was decorated with little snow people, matching napkins, peppermint chocolate swizzlers and candies too. Nine ladies braved the cold to devour an array of delicious lunches & cheesecake before diving into their favourite novels. Each gal presented three books along with a synopsis of why they enjoyed reading it. There was a wide variety of writings which the ladies swiftly swapped with one another. Some books for example were historic, others political, and a few from the Oprah book club list.
“The Shack” by William Young, was one of the last novels to be introduced. It’s the story of McKenzie Allan Phillips who receives an invitation to spend a weekend with God following the brutal murder of his daughter, Missy. McKenzie encounters the Trinity at the abandoned Shack where the girl’s body was discovered. There has been much written in the news over this religiously controversial book. Two of the gals had read this book and after a short discussion it was recommended.
Following lunch and announcements the Bookworms descended in the building for a view of the lovely gift/flower shop.
Announcements were reviewed for the Minneapolis trip, May 1-3rd. We have 12 ladies interested with 10 having registered already, and two maybes.
Queen La Diva read a Valentine Poem she wrote in the form of the Feb. event and handed out copies to the ladies.
