Big Grassy man drowns

Tragedy struck last Wednesday evening when Mr. and Mrs. Fred Archie of Big Grassy First Nation were on Lake of the Woods.
Both were thrown from their boat while setting nets as part of their commercial fishing operation. Unfortunately Fred did not survive, drowning just west of Brule Island. His wife made it to shore.
Anglers on the lake observed the boat operating erratically and went closer to investigate. It was then they spotted Mrs. Archie on shore.
No charges have been laid at this time however Kenora Ontario Provincial Police are still investigating the incident.
The body was recovered Sunday evening.
