Red Hatters have a sleepover

By Susan Douglas
RR Red Hat Society

With the crackling fireplace stocked up, the red hatter rug rats arrived in pyjamas for a Chilli supper at Queen La Diva’s, (Susan Douglas), Jan. 27th, 2009.
The Queen’s home in Dawson was decorated in the theme of red cardinal birds (her favourite), snowflakes & polar bears. The girls got cozy around the table with hot chocolate, munchies, and loads of friendship. They poured over the red hat scrapbooks created over the last 4 1⁄2 yrs. Following supper, draws were held for red hat snow lady pins, generously donated by Florence Newman.
Following supper the red hatters car pooled to Lady Linda of La-Di-Dah’s (Linda Budreau) for a Soiree craft time.
Lady Linda presented the pyjama girls with polar bear mugs, for their selection of tea, along with a hand crocheted snowflake both gifts to take home. The girls were guided by Lady Round to It (Elsie Gerula) in creating whimsical red hat snow women as party favours. Later, Lady Linda, provided items to decorate heart frames to be used at the upcoming Valentine Dinner.
The Rogues then joined together in the warmth of the living area for the movie attraction “Momma Mia”, which didn’t keep them in their seats for long. The girls danced around the kitchen singing along with Meryl Streep and accompaniment. The movie wouldn’t be complete without popcorn and a door prize; a popcorn set of dishes, won by the Red Baroness (Ruth Bynkoski). As the night wore on the girls bunkered down at Linda’s trying to get a few winks before they were up and off to Duchess of Wilson Creek’s (Bev Langner) for breakfast.
Once the ladies settled around the table, they were at the windows in a flash, to view the chubby Red Cardinal at the feeder. Lady Linda of La-Di-Dah and Queen La Diva were quick to scheme and pout over why the bird flew over their Dawson houses without landing to feast. They only settled down quietly when the delicious casseroles, prepared by Bev and Dawn, (Lady Dolly of La Tea Da), were served along with a huge fruit tray and beverages. All who attended had a great time touring the homes and enjoying the friendship of the Les Rouge Rogues.
Our next Rendezvous is planned for Tues., Feb. 24th at 5:15 at the Roadside Restaurant. It will be our Valentine Party, come in Regalia, and bring a piece of memorable jewellery (or photo) to share your story, and participate in games with prizes.
