Evelyn Godin
Evelyn Godin, age 69 of, Rainy River, Ontario passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at LaVerendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ontario.
Evelyn was born on November 26, 1939 in Rainy River, Ontario. In earlier years, Evelyn worked as a waitress at a Tourist Camp on Lake of the Woods. On April 10, 1958, Evelyn was united in marriage to Almer Godin. Together they raised their family, and through the years she worked at Arctic Cat, the Post Office and Homecare. She also was a member of the Legion Auxiliary in Rainy River. Despite her busy life, she enjoyed her home and her time with the grandchildren wherever she took them. Evelyn had a great sense of humour and helped homecare patients with great compassion. Evelyn will be dearly missed by her family and friends alike.
She is survived by her husband, Almer Godin; mother, Emily Embury of Rainy River, ON.; five children, Linda (Roger) of Florida, Billy (Nellie) of Devlin, ON, Dennis of Thunder Bay, ON., Dan (Stacy) and Brad (Kari) all of Rainy River, ON., eight grandchildren, Wayne, Brian, Kelly, Bryce, Kenzie, Sarina, Matt and Kyle; two sisters, Mildred (Dan) Johnson and Ilene (Charlie) Johnson all of Rainy River, ON.; two brothers, Harold (Janet) Embury of Huntsville, ON., and Clifford (Ruth) Embury of Saskatoon, SK.; brothers-in-law, Don Fraser and Tom Connon; sisters-in-laws, Matilda, Merle, Irene, Eleanor and Iona; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her father, Bill Embury; and one sister, Edith Fraser.
Funeral services were held on Friday, February 20, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. at the Knox United Church in Rainy River, Ontario. Pastor Mark Mast officiated with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Rainy River, Ontario.
Visitation was held prior to funeral services on Friday from 12:30 p.m. until service time at the Knox United Church in Rainy River, Ontario.
Active pallbearers were Larry Johnson, Bob Johnson, Randy Godin, Darryl Godin, Mike Godin and Colin Wood.
Honourary pallbearers were Jeanette Cross, Ila King, Winnie Beard and Iona Godin.
