Sixteen board members of McInnes Chapel gathered at the home of Bev and Bill Langner in Dawson Township, Jan. 25th for the first meeting of the year 2009.
Chairman, Bob Locking, called the meeting to order with the Secretary’s report, by Carol Jenson, followed by the Treasurer’s Report, from Vivian Locking. Both reports were accepted as read.
We reviewed the Christmas Supper & Hymn Sing, which was held Sat. Dec. 6th, at the Chapel. It was very well attended and a few suggestions were made for next year.
Bob asked about replacing a sign that was demolished in an accident. It was decided we were in need of a vacuum, microwave and step stool with handle. Larry & Linda Budreau will donate an Electrolux vacuum. Larry will procure the other two items.
It was discussed and passed that we each bring to our monthly meeting, a non perishable food item, for the food bank. We also decided to give a financial donation to the local food bank.
A pork roast was mentioned for this fall as a fundraiser, possibly Sept. We then held the Election of Officers. Larry made a motion, seconded by John Sanderson, to keep all officers if they were willing, which was carried. Officers are: Chair,-Bob Locking, Vice Chair-Mark Douglas, Secretary-Carol Jenson, Treasurer-Vivian Locking, News reporter-Susan Douglas. Bill Langer said he will look into the Insurance coverage for the Chapel.
Bev gave a lovely reading, “A Mayo Jar and Two Cups of Coffee”. Carol read a thank you from the Salvation Army. Grace was said by all leading into a pot luck lunch. The next meeting will be at the Douglas residence at 3 p.m. Mar. 1, 2009. A birthday cake was presented and Happy Birthday sung to Bill Langner.
March 1st, 2009 was a lovely sunny day as 15 members of McInnes Chapel Board gathered for their monthly meeting at the Douglas residence.
Bob welcomed everyone and asked for the Secretary’s and Treasurer’s reports. Both were accepted as read.
Vivian read several donations to the chapel in memory of various loved ones. One donor referred to the Chapel as “a friendly oasis in the forest for all who need it”, which warmed the hearts of listeners. Bill gave his report on the insurance and will continue to investigate prices.
Vivian mentioned receiving a phone call requesting a graveside service with lunch in June, to which everyone agreed.
Our Annual Yard Sale & Lunch will be held April 18th at the Chapel. People are already collecting lots of items.
Susan also mentioned their ECC Annual Spring Pie Social and Quilt Show on April 4th at the Legion. Anne gave a reading, “A Day at a Time”.
Susan volunteered to drop off the food bank items.Grace was said followed by a delightful lunch. Our next meeting will be at the Chapel, weather permitting, on March 29, 2009.We look forward to spring cleanup!
