Not snow, nor rain, nor any means of foul weather would keep the eager McInnes Chapel Board members from gathering at their beloved ‘chapel in the woods’, Sunday, March 28th, 2009. Victor Jenson shovelled a pathway to the door followed by fourteen keeners bearing pot luck entrees.
Following the Secretary’s report by Carol Jenson, and the Treasurer’s statement by Vivian Locking, the group tackled the business at hand. Discussion centered around the upcoming Yard Sale and Live Auction.
A final date was settled on for Saturday, May 9th. It was decided to serve up muffins and coffee for the early birds, followed by the Live Auction at 11:00 a.m. Just as in previous years, hot dogs and snacks will be sold over the lunch hour. At noon we’ll offer “Fill a Bag for a Buck”. All items in the Chapel will sell at 50 cents per item, while larger articles for sale will be placed outside. There has been an offer of some items for the auction including a table saw, and set of lamps. Several people will be donating big items.
A microwave and step stool were purchased for the Chapel. The Budreaus donated a vacuum cleaner. A decision was made to hire keepers of the grounds for the summer, and it will be offered to the same people as last year. We discussed cleaning the perimeter of the graveyard this year with a caution issued on the poison ivy. A reading entitled “However the Cold of Winter” was read by Bev Langner. The business part of the meeting closed and grace was said. Since a couple loads of items for the sale were on hand, the ladies quickly moved pews around and began to organize and sort articles. A freewill offering was taken while everyone enjoyed the delicious array of foods. Our next meeting will be Sunday, April 26th at the Chapel.
