The Library Corner: Scrap-booking classes coming
By Gill Stamler
Rainy River Public Library
It’s nearly the end of April and spring seems to be here, but one never knows! Time to SPRING INTO activities and new books at the RRPL!!
There will be a SCRAP-BOOKING WORKSHOP held on Thursday, April 30th, 7pm to 9pm. There is a small charge which includes all supplies. It’s a Beginners Class with room for twelve; Brenda Elias from Emo, is the instructor. Sign up as soon as possible! It should be most interesting. I just “SIGNED UP”!!
Sheila has contacted Marty Kreger about doing a car maintenance course. Keep posted for more information!
Don’t forget STORY TIME for the kids every Thursday morning at 10:30am to 11:30am. It’s always an entertaining time!
Anybody seen the movie “He’s Just Not That Into You”? The book, by Greg Behrendt and Liz Tuccillo, is based on a popular episode of ‘Sex and the City’. It educates otherwise smart women on how to tell when a guy just doesn’t like them enough for a relationship so they can stop wasting their time!! Sound familiar??!! It’s a fun, light read – I enjoyed it.
Well, OCTOMOM has been in the news a lot lately but how about reading ‘MULTIPLE BLESSINGS’ by Jon and Kate Gosselin and Beth Carson. As it says, “Surviving to Thriving with Twins and Sextuplets”!! This family’s life is chronicled on TLC’s hit show “Jon & Kate plus 8”. This book is written with honesty, humour and a strong faith, and I highly recommend it to the young mothers (and fathers!) of the area.
Jeffrey Archer is a British author who has topped best-sellers lists around the world. His latest book, “Paths of Glory” tells the story of George Mallory, an American mountaineer, who said he wanted to climb MT. Everest “because it is there”. On his third attempt in 1924, he was last seen 600 feet from the top. His body was found in 1999, but it is still a mystery as to whether he reached the summit. This novel, based on Mallory’s exploits, is very well written and maybe, at the end, you can decide if Mallory is a true American hero and legend. A “MUST READ” in my view!!
All for now. See you next month with news and views from the RRPL.
