This Friday the Rainy River Record will be hosting its 8th Annual Alzheimer’s Coffee Break.
The event was started by the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada with the intent of having people have special coffee breaks in their place of work. Ideally designed for larger places of employment, the Record adopted the cause and invited the entire town to come to it.
In the past four years they have raised nearly $1,000 for Alzheimer’s research, thanks to the strong support of members of the community.
The staff provides some of their best homemade dainties and coffee is served free of charge. Old copies of the paper are put on display for the public to browse through and information on Alzheimer’s Disease is available.
People are asked to make a donation of any amount with all the proceeds going to the Alzheimer’s Society in Thunder Bay.
Many people are afflicted with this terrible disease that causes memory loss and so much heart ache for families. However great strides have been made in recent years and with continued support of the public, researchers are confident they will beat this enemy.
So mark your calendar for this Thursday, September 27, 2002, 1-3 p.m. and be part of a National Coffee Break in the name of Alzheimer’s Research.
If you can not make it to the coffee break but wish to donate call the Record at 852-3366 or stop by during normal business hours.
