Owls starting season with strong team showings

The Rainy River High School (RRHS), has four sports teams this semester. The teams are Junior Boys and Senior Boys volleyball, Junior Girls and Senior Girls basketball.
The Junior Boys are from grades nine and ten. The team consists of thirteen players, Joel Ashworth, Delbert Kirkrude, Dan O’Connell, Kyle Kuzyk, Matt Ivall, Matt Morrison, Duffy Gulbrandsen, Jason Peters, Shane Ikert, Ron Ernst, Chad Armstrong, James Thompson, and Joe Reimund. The captain of the team is Joel Ashworth. Their coach is Ms. Lori Armstrong. The non-teaching coach is Don Gall.
So far, the Junior boys have played four games, two of which have been played at home. Out of these four games, the have won two and lost two. They defeated Sioux Lookout and Ignace and fell prey to the St. Thomas Aquinas Saints (TA) and Red Lake Rams.
The Senior boys have as much as three to four years of playing experience and are from the senior grades at RRHS. This team consists of nine players. They are, Matt Bartlett, Blake Mykytyn, Dylan Seymour, Nathan Jack, Jesse Archie, Brendan Big George, Jason Seguin, Mitch Goliquer, and Matt Ashworth. There are two captains for this team, Brendan Big George and Matt Ashworth.Their coach is Mr. Joel Banbury.
Out of the four games played so far, they have won only once against Ignace. They have lost to TA, Red Lake, and the Sioux Lookout Warriors.
The Junior Girls are from grades nine to ten. This team consists of 8 players: Corrisa Hanson, Britney Jasper, Julie McQuaker, Alison Wolanicki, Jamie Hall, Megan Anderson, Jamie Vandenbrand, and Shauna Lundgren. The captain of this team is Allison Wolanicki. Their coach is Mrs. Gayleen Jasper.
This season they have faced four opponents, two of which were here at home. The have lost all four games played falling to the Ignace Falcons, TA, Red Lake, and Sioux Lookout.
The players who are on the Senior girls team are: Jenni Stafford, Brooke Ewald, Laurie Brown, Alicia Giles, Jessica Creason, Trienke van Rozen, and Marion Reimund. The captain of this team is Jenni Stafford. Their coach is Mr. John LaPlante.
Out of the four games played so far this season, they have won two and lost two. They lost to Sioux Lookout, and to TA. They defeated Red Lake, and Ignace.
