Next week is Library Week
Penny Shumaker - Rainy River Librarian
In October, municipalities across Canada celebrate public libraries. Ontario Public Library Week will take place October 21st to 27th with a focus on the role of public libraries in providing parents with access to Internet literacy information and resources.
Please join us at the Rainy River Public Library on Wednesday October 23rd for coffee and dainties in recognition of library week. We will have a raffle for a sketch donated by a local artist and a raffle for a child’s basket of books.
October has brought other changes to the library. We are now open Monday noon to 6:00 pm., Tuesday to Friday noon to 5:00 pm. and Saturdays 11:00 to 2:00 pm.
Story hour is still Tuesday mornings from 10:30 to 11:30 am. but it is now held at the Rainy River Health Centre Activity Room. This change allows residents of the Centre to join the children in rhymes, stories, craft and play. All children and parents are welcome to join in the fun.
Did you know? Canadian public libraries are the most heavily used public community facility with more than 150 million visits per year. So celebrate this vital service to our community and join us at our Open House.
