Martin Joseph Selman, 75

It is with great sadness that the family of Martin Joseph Selman announce his passing on Sunday, June 21, 2009 at Rainycrest Home For The Aged.
Martin was born on June 13, 1934 in Blue Township, growing up in the Rainy River area. As a young man he joined the workforce first with the Railroad and then taking employment with the paper mill in Dryden. He was united in marriage to Lorna Sinclair on September 5, 1956 and together they moved to Fort Frances. Martin joined the local paper mill and continued to work there until his retirement in 1990. In his downtime he loved to camp and fish, taking the grandchildren with him whenever he could. Martin was a people person who loved to make new friends. He touched the lives of many.
He leaves behind his wife Lorna; children Bruce Selman (Peggy Mailing), Angela (Dale) Carroll; grandchildren Christopher Carroll all of Fort Frances and Jennifer Carroll of Timmins; sister Lillian Ogier of Fort Frances as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Martin was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Elizabeth Martin; daughter Elizabeth Marie; granddaughter Stephanie Dale Carroll; brother George (Roxie) Selman; sisters Mamie (Adolf) Klaus, Olive (Ken)Anderson, Verna (Chuck) Race, Viola (Bill) Seltzer, Rena (Tony) Caouette; Belle (Fred) Metzker and brother-in-law Nick Ogier.
A visitation was held on Thursday, June 25, 2009 from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at Green Funeral Home.
Funeral services were held on Friday, June 26, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Green Funeral Home with Father Wayne McIntosh officiating. Cremation will take place following the service with interment in the Blue Cemetery.
The honourary pallbearers will be Tom Connon, Ken Manty, Kevin Rambo, Chris Carroll, Jennifer Carroll, James Dobie and Ken Martin.
