Caron Audrey McQuaker, age 66
Caron Audrey McQuaker passed away on July 2, 2009, at the Emo Hospital,
with her husband and children by her side.
She was born on January 29, 1943, in Emo Ontario, to Harvey and Aileen Strachan, the second eldest of seven children.
She attended Public and High schools in Fort Frances. On May 26, 1962, she married Forrest McQuaker, and together they had four children. In 1970, they moved to a small home in Burriss, living there until 1983, when they purchased Burriss General Store, which they operated until 1991.
Audrey worked in several retail stores during her life, including Stedman’s, Robinson Stores, and her favourite, Miller’s Store in LaVallee. She also did custodial work at the Burriss School, did part-time work delivering mail, and for a time, worked at the Municipal Office in Devlin, finally, together with Forrest, retiring in 1993 from the “work for pay” world.
She was a devoted and loving wife and mother, and her children and grandchildren were ever her first priority. After that came friends and socializing, and not nearly often enough, her absolute favourite recreational activity, fishing on various nearby lakes. She also loved to cook, and her kitchen was always the centre of family life.
She is survived by her husband Forrest, sons Brent (Linda) and Craig (Della), and daughters Caron (Doug) Cridland and Laura (Paul Smith), grandsons Tyler (Kim) McQuaker and Matthew McQuaker, Doug and Dennis Wright, and Jeff Cridland, and granddaughters Amanda (Mark Davies) McQuaker, Ashley (Roger) Morrison, Sarah Wright, Dana and Danielle Cridland, and Mia Blanchette, and great-grandchildren Jayde Wright, and Peyton and Khloe Morrison.
She was predeceased by her parents Harvey and Aileen Strachan, fatherin-
law William McQuaker, and granddaughters Heather McQuaker and Megan Blanchette.
Funeral services will be held at Green Funeral Home on Tuesday July 7, 2009, at 1:00pm, with interment in Burriss Cemetary. The Pallbearers will be her grandsons Tyler McQuaker, Matthew McQuaker, Dennis Wright, Jeff Cridland, Roger Morrison, and special friend Bill Moody. Honourary Pallbearers will be Audrey’s granddaughters, and special friends Daisy
and Jim McInnis, and Elaine Soucy.
In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make donations to Riverside Healthcare - Emo Hospital, the Canadian Cancer Society, or a charity of their choice.
