RRHS students travel to Winnipeg to attend University fair

Every high school student worries about the future...should I go to university, should I go to college, should I just start working, what should I do? On November 14th, a university fair was held in Winnipeg to them find answers to those questions.
It had representatives from universities all across Canada all grouped together in one big room. This was so that people can check out any university that they might want to attend, ask questions and get answers. This process helps many undecided students narrow down their search options for the future.
There was representation from at least 40 universities. The variety of schools was impressive. There was at least one university from every province.
This fair was held at the Balmoral Hall School. The Universities were all set up at tables to talk to any interested students in the Richardson Hall Athletic Centre from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. From 8:00 to 9:00 p.m. there were sessions being held by 23 of the universities in attendance. In the hour, there were two sessions, and students were allowed to pick two university sessions and listen to the presentations by those schools. Questions followed which helped students make some decisions regarding their future.
There were students from many Northwestern Ontario schools as well as students from Manitoba schools. RRHS took nine students and two teachers to Winnipeg to actively participate in this fair. Guidance Councillor and Teacher, Georgina Jarvis and Teacher Laura Armistead accompanied the nine students, Kelli Kuzyk, Blake Mykytyn, Neil Ivall, Trevor Bonot, Matt Neilson, Alicia Giles, Alana Wolanicki, Jenny Burner, and Valkyrie Clark to Winnipeg.
Last year, Mrs. Jarvis and a few RRHS students accompanied the Fort Frances students and teachers to the university fair. Everybody thought that it would be a better idea if a large van was rented to take the RRHS students this year. And because of that thought, more students were able to attend.
All in all, it was a very good experience for students who were unsure of what they were going to do after they graduate.
A big “Thank You!!” from all of the students who attended to Mrs. Jarvis for organizing the trip and to Mrs. Armistead for helping.
