Several questions arose about equipment the Town of Rainy River has had repaired recently when council held its regular monthly meeting Monday evening.
When the monthly financial statements came up for approval, Councillor Brent Anderson raised the recent repairs to the town's bobcat tractor.
Public Works Chair Gerry Marchuk noted that it was over $5,000 and Mayor Deb Ewald noted that it was a very expensive part. "It was the head on it."
Anderson commented, "When we start getting into expenses like that maybe it is time to start looking at a new one."
Anderson also raised expenses paid to fix a piece of rented equipment. A escavator being used on the town's sewer project, has had numerous repairs paid for by the town. "We are paying rent and have to pay for repairs as well?" questioned Anderson.
Town office staff member Corey Dyck who was filling in for CAO Veldron Vogan Monday evening, said that Town Foreman Bob Jenson goes over all the repairs and either approves payment of them or sends them back to Stratton Equipment for them to pay.
Councillor Marchuk said he thought that, "It was my understanding that if we rented they would cover the repairs. We need to check into this."
