La Vallee gets $200,000 for infrastructure improvements

MNDM Press Release

TORONTO - The Township of La Vallee will improve local recreational infrastructure, emergency services and road conditions with a $200,000 investment from the Ernie Eves government, Jim Wilson, Minister of Northern Development and Mines and Chair of the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC), announced today.
“Our government understands the importance of investing in civic infrastructure to improve the quality of life and help build strong northern communities,” said Wilson. “These investments will also create more favourable conditions for economic diversification opportunities that foster economic growth and prosperity.”
Funding will go toward construction of a community skating rink and rink service building, as well as to build handicapped accessible washrooms at the Devlin baseball diamond. The township will also purchase extrication equipment for the fire department and upgrade a three-kilometre section of Wasaw Road from the Highway 613 North intersection.
“I am very pleased that the Ontario government is providing this vital funding to help us enhance our infrastructure needs and strengthen our community foundations,” said La Vallee Reeve Ken McKinnon. “These projects are important local priorities that will greatly enhance our quality of life and safety, and support the development of opportunities that bring new jobs to our community.”
