It is time to shine up that motorcycle and take a ride for a good cause this weekend!
The 7th Annual Alzheimer District Ride for Memories is set to ride this Saturday.
Locally riders need to travel to Fort Frances where they will depart from the Harbourage Restaurant at 9 a.m.
This year’s destination is Red Lake but riders from this end of the ride will travel up Hwy. 502 to Dryden for their first stop of the day. Motorcyclists will be treated to lunch at the Legion there!
After lunch they will tour the town of Dryden. Last year there were 140 bikes and it was very impressive when they toured Rainy River.
From Dryden they will be travelling to Ear Falls where they will break for refreshments and then it is on to Red Lake.
Kenora-Rainy River Alzheimer Society Exec. Director Margaret Schonewille said that she knows that Kevin Kennedy of Pinewood, is registered again this year and is trying to raise $3,000 this year. He raised the most last year.
There are prizes for the top money earners and the top poker hands from the ride.
To register for the ride call 1-800-682-0245 before Thurs and the cost will be $15. After that riders can show up and it will cost $20.
In Red Lake there will be a steak dinner at the legion. Schonewille said there are accommodations available in and around Red Lake.
Another fundraising activity that is now set to begin for the Alzheimer Society is their annual cash calendar. She said they are available in Rainy River at the post office!
