Town hall move one step closer

Kenora-Rainy River M.P. Bob Nault presented the Town of Rainy River with $82,600 on Friday in a make work project to renovate the town garage to house the municipal office.
The money from Human Resources Development Canada will be to hire five individuals to, “reconstruct the existing public works garage to provide new energy efficient office space for the Municipality,” said Nault in a press release Friday.
Nault also presented cheques in Emo and Fort Frances. In Emo the federal government kicked in $67,500 towards a new sports field there.
In Fort Frances Nault handed out a cheque for $103,680 for a youth internship program at Northern Community Development Services. It will provide the opportunity for 10 unemployed youth to develop employment and work skills.
Nault also announced funding of $271,719 for a new employment resource centre in Fort Frances. The centre will assist unemployed or underemployed individuals to prepare for, find and keep employment.
