Dale Hanson, 73
In loving memory of our dear husband, father and grandfather who passed away on September 3, 2009 at the Dryden Regional Health Centre with his family at his side.
Dale was born December 15, 1935 in Rainy River, Ont. In 1958, he relocated to Dryden and was employed by the Dryden Paper Company where he remained until his retirement in 1997. In retirement, his focus changed to full-time grandfather and constant companion of his loving wife, Jeannine. He was very proud of his family, specifically his five grandchildren and he was their biggest supporter as he rarely missed a hockey game, baseball game or music recital. He possessed an admirable work ethic and spirit of generosity; he was always there to lend a helping hand to his family and friends. In his leisure time, Dale enjoyed reading, camping, ice-fishing, and tending to his home. He also found pleasure as a regular patron of the Dryden Entertainment Series.
Dale was predeceased by his parents, Hugo and Daisy, by his brothers, Everett, Earl and Ralph and his sister, Doris.
Dale will always be lovingly remembered and cherished by his wife of 48 years, Jeannine; by his two daughters, Brenda Hanson and her partner, Tom Wood of Dryden and Catherine Peace and her husband, Martin of Thunder Bay. Papa’s legacy will always live on in his grandchildren, Jared (Kristin) Meadows, Shanna Meadows (Ryan Potter), Darian Meadows (Ali Moore) and Jaimie and Reagan Peace. He is also survived by his sister, Vivian (Fred) Hartnell and his sisters-in-law, Irene Hanson, Rose Hanson and Nancy Hanson all of Rainy River, in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held at St. Joseph’s Church on Monday, September 7, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Thomas Mullamangalam of Keewatin officiating. Interment of ashes will take place in the Dryden Cemetery at a later date.
