Legion and Legion Aux. make ultra "sound" donations

What could be a more "sound" investment than equipment for the Rainy River hospital?
That was the feeling of both the Rainy River Royal Canadian Legion and the Legion Auxiliary members when they voted to donate $5,000 and $1,000 respectively this week.
The Legion and its Auxiliary have always been strong supporters of the local hospital, helping to raise a vast portion of the money needed to build the facility a decade ago. So when the project to buy an emergency ultra-sound machine for the ER at Rainy River hospital was announced they decided to raise and donate some money to the project.
The initial campaign goal was around $44,000 but it soon became clear that there was strong support for the project and a decision to upgrade the initial machine to a better one was made.
"Our goal is now $60,000 and we are only $7,000 short of that now and we started raising money in May," said Tammy McNally, Nurse Manager at Rainy River Health Centre.
The facility has in fact ordered the ultra-sound machine and it will be in by month's end.
Then following some training they hope to have it operational my January or February.
Fund-raising chair for the Ultra-sound 911 project, Larry Armstrong said Monday, "Support for this has been spectacular."
