Local skaters figure for medals

Four figure skaters from Rainy River attended the Celebrate Magic on Ice, Sunset Country Region Interclub 2003 Competition held Jan 24 – 26 2003 in Kenora.
The girls all skated very well, bringing home medals.
Results are as follows:
Madison Boisvert – skates with the Emo Figure Skating Club in Emo
She placed first in her flight of Ladies Pre-preliminary Compulsory Event
Kelsey Jonassen – skates with the Emo Figure Skating Club in Emo
She also place first her flight of Ladies Pre-preliminary Compulsory Event
Molly Tharalson – skates with the Border Figure Skating Club in Fort Frances
She place 4th in the Ladies Preliminary Compulsory Event, 2nd in the Ladies Preliminary Solo Event and 5th in Preliminary Team Event
Athena Pirkl – skates with the Border Figure Skating Club in Fort Frances
She place 2nd in the open dance event, 2nd in the senior skills event, 3rd in the Ladies Senior Bronze Solo Event and 5th in Ladies Senior Bronze Compulsory Event.
Athena also travelled to Sault Ste Marie for the Festival of Ice 2003 - Northern Ontario Sectional Event held February 14-15/03. She placed 7th in her flight in her solo event.
The four skaters will also be travelling to Thunder Bay to compete in the Thunder Bay open even held February 28-March 2/2003
