Auxiliary to cater two Valentine's parties this week

By Irene Hanson
R.R. Hosp. Aux.

Sixteen members came to our regular Feb 1 meeting. Before going into our meeting we had guest speaker, Theresa Hazel from the Riverside Health Care Facilities, give a presentation on "People First", a helpful guide on how we are best able to help the people who are in some way disabled, and in need of help. The film was very informative and had many tips on how to approach these people and make them feel comfortable. "Thank You" Theresa for braving the icy roads and giving your time to give this presentation.
Our regular meeting followed, minutes read and financial statement given. Both approved as read.
It was noted in our January meeting that the activity room needs a couple easy to move tables for special occasions. We will supply these, and it was left to Tammy McNally and Marilyn Hanson to look into getting them.
The joint east-west spring conference will be held at Thunder Bay, April 9-10. Several members have indicated they would go. More information will be available at the next meeting.
New Business - We will again participate in the Trade Show coming up in April, doing a rock-a-thon, with the money going toward the installation of the walk in bath tub in the acute care wing. More on the rock-a-thon at the next meeting.
We will cater the Valentine's Parties at both the station and for the long term patients. (Station Feb 10th - Hospital Feb 12th). There will be entertainment, punch, angle food cake etc.
Also we have to make more travel bags, given to emergency patients who arrive without any of these things. Needed are small, soaps, combs, shampoos, toothpaste and brushes etc. If you have some you would like to donate bring them to the Tuck shop at the hospital. It would be much appreciated.
Gill Stamler presented her first copy of an auxiliary news letter, outlining what we have accomplished in the past, and some we will strive to do in the future. It will be copied and sent to our members. She will try to do three issues a year.
The raffle for our strawberry Social will again be a 50-50 draw. The Social will be at the Legion, May 5th 2-4 p.m.
This concluded our meeting, the next one is March 1st, at the hospital at 1:30
P.S. The Raffle tickets will be out shortly, available from members, or in some business.
