Mildred Irene Johnson, 87
Mildred Irene Johnson
February 9, 1922 – February 5, 2010
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of their loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She passed away peacefully at the age of 87, with her family by her side at the Dryden Regional Health Centre.
Mildred married her one and only love, Harold Arnold Johnson on April 27, 1940. Together they raised a family of seven children on their farm in Morson ON.
Mildred is survived by her children Sid (Kathy) of Brandon MB, Carolyn Halvorsen (Danny) of Kakabeka Falls ON, Curt (Lynda) of Dryden ON, Glenn of Prince George, BC, Rob (Janine) of Dryden ON, Lori Robbins (Barry) of Thunder Bay, ON, Brenda Berard (Ed) of Spruce Grove, AB, 16 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Evelyn Mancuso of Scarborough ON.
Mildred was predeceased by her husband Harold in 1991, her parents Sam and Nadine Nelson, brother Floyd Nelson and two infant children, one at birth and Randy at 9 months.
Mildred’s whole life was devoted to her family. We all have special memories of times spent together. She found great joy in gardening, canning and weaving rugs. She was a great cook and baker, especially her bread and buns. A few summers were spent cooking at tourist camps in Morson. She moved to Dryden 10 years ago to be closer to her family.
At Mom’s request a private family service was held at Stevens Funeral Homes Dryden ON. Following cremation interment of ashes will take place at a later date in the Bergland Cemetery.
If friends so desire donations may be made to the charity of their choice through the Stevens Funeral Homes P.O. Box 412, Dryden ON P8N 2Z1. Condolences may be emailed to sympathycard@shaw.ca subject: Johnson
