Ksenia Sorokopud, 94

Ksenia Sorokopud passed away suddenly, at the Victoria Hospital, Winnipeg, Manitoba on February 21, 2010, surrounded by her family, at the age of 94 years.
She was born in Urynow in the Ukraine on April 28, 1915. She came to Canada in 1947 with her husband and two sons, and settled in Rainy River, Ontario.
Left to cherish Ksenia’s memory are her sons, Borys (Rachel) of Kelowna, B.C. and George (Mary) of Thunder Bay, ON, and daughter Christine Smith, of Winnipeg, MB. She is also survived by her grandchildren Alex ( Kaori), Sorokopud, Lise Sorokopud, Michael (Tiffany) Sorokopud, Nadine (Brad) Krampp, Brock Smith, and Ashley Smith; also her sister Anne Ferency, niece Martha Ferency and nephew Norman Ferency of Toronto.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Alexander Sorokopud, her parents, brother-in-law Rev. Fr. George Ferency , nieces Christine and Lydia Ferency, and son-in-law Ron Smith in 2009 .
Funeral service was held on Wednesday, February 24, 2010, at St. John the Apostle, Ukrainian Catholic Church, Winnipeg, Manitoba, at 10:30 a.m., Rev. Deacon Leon Twerdun officiated. Interment followed at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Rainy River, Ontario.
