James William Parker, 54
James William Parker died March 2, 2010 at the age of 54, in Niverville,Manitoba, with his wife by his side.
Jim was born to Percy and Vera Parker on June 29, 1955, in Rainy River,Ontario. Jim grew up and graduated in Rainy River.
The week after graduation he hired on the Rail Road. He worked as an operator where he worked many remote stations.
Jim became a dispatcher in 1982. He then moved with his family to Birds Hill, Manitoba, and worked in the Rail Road Station at Broadway and Main in Winnipeg for 10 years. He was then transferred to the Edmonton Office where he pre-retired after 30 years of service. Jim moved his family to Niverville in the summer of 2004. He then started a new life trying to sleep in the night and live in the day. Jim worked 29 of his 30 years on midnights. He liked it that way... no management to interrupt the real dealings with his job.
He loved curling, working on old cars and playing at being a farmer. He was always there when someone called. He tried all of the latest gadgets. He said he didn’t want them- he just wanted to know how they worked. Figuring them out was the fun part.
Jim is survived by his wife of 30 years, LuAnn, his son Ian and wife Ashley and daughter Allison; Mother Vera Parker, sisters Sandra (Ray) Horbaty, Carol (Garry) Dyck, Diane (Mike) Rusnak, Eileen (Eugene) Heyens, Noreen (Mark) Montgomery, and Brother Tom (Gisele) Parker. Many relatives, aunts, sister and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Jim was predeceased by his father Percy Parker.
We would like to thank the 911 Nurse, The St Pierre Hospital staff, Vita Funeral Home along with LuAnn’s friend and co-worker Joy, the Chaplain who proceeded over a small farewell for Jim in St. Pierre on the 4th.
With Jim there was never a project that was too big.
As his Railroad name is so fitting.
James William Parker...J.W.P. Just Wait Patiently.
