Under Rainy River’s 20-20 Strategic Plans, the Recreation Committee and the New Activities/Built Environment Planning Committee is looking at developing community use trails.
In December, a survey to gauge public interest in these trails was collected. Of the 188 surveys that were returned, 97% stated that they were in support of the creation of trails. Almost 88% of respondents said that they would use community trails. An astonishing 45% stated that they would be willing to help develop multi-use trails in Rainy River. In addition, a long list of positive comments and suggestions were put forward. On the basis of these survey results, the Multi-Use Community Trails Planning Committee, in partnership with the Town of Rainy River, intends to move forward with the development of local multi-use community trails. The next step in this process is to develop a more focussed vision of how these trails could reflect the wishes and needs of our community.
In order to take this next step, a public meeting is planned for Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at 7:00 p.m.
in the multi-purpose room (directly across from the main office) at Rainy River High School. At this meeting an experienced facilitator will guide us through the process of developing a comprehensive vision that will guide the process of creating these trails. Everyone is invited and encouraged to join this meeting. We hope to see you there. Healthy snacks will be provided.
Together we can make this happen!
