Garnet James Froome, 76

In loving memory of Garnet James Froome, age 76 of Fort Frances who went peacefully to be with his Lord and Saviour on Saturday March 13, 2010 at the LaVerendrye Health Facility, Fort Frances, Ont.
Garnet was born in Bergland on September 1st, 1933. He was the 3rd eldest of six children born to James and Edith Froome. When he was a child the family moved to Thunder Bay. He often talked fondly of his first job delivering telegrams on a small motorized two wheeled bike. They moved back to the Rainy River district where he helped his father run the Co-op Store in Stratton. Garnet then drove the cream truck for Rainy River Co-op. His proudest accomplishment was working on construction to build the Fort Frances causeway from start to finish. Garnet also worked at the Mine in Atikokan, Sepawe Sawmill and in the bush cutting pulpwood. He loved nature and the outdoors. In his retirement he spent several weeks every summer camping out near the rapids in Bergland at the location of the homestead cabin that he was born in. He called it his place of peace. Garnet survived the many challenges in his life through his faith in God, Prayer and his love for his family. He will be deeply missed.
Garnet was predeceased by his parents, James and Edith Froome, Sister Loraine Fell, Brother in law Joe Fell, Brother in law Max Faulkner and Brother in law Wayne Anness. He is survived by his siblings: Louise Falkner (Taber, AB), Merle (Frank) Penney (Lethbridge, AB), Evelyn (Arnie) Kleppe (Thunder Bay, ON) Dale (Audrey) Froome (Dryden, ON).
