Riverview girls bring home gold medals

By Mark Jodoin

Over this past weekend, the boy’s and girl’s basketball teams from Riverview School competed in the regional championships.
Once again they proved the westend of the district is strong when it comes to basketball.
Riverview girls were there to defend their championship from 2009. They also played very well throughout the day. Winning all three round robin games, they went into the semi-finals against a tough team from St. Francis and came out ahead by just one basket. The finals were then set between Riverview and Robert Moore who had given them a tough game earlier in the day. In the end, Riverview took home gold after beating Robert Moore for a second time that day.
Although the boy’s team did not make the playoffs, they were extremely competitive. They played six games through the day and ended up winning their last two games of the day. Their losses were very close, not losing one game by more than two baskets.
This capped off another successful basketball season for Riverview after accumulating one bronze medal and two gold medals.
