Gilbert J. Allan, 78

A native of Rainy River, Ontario, Canada, and a 55 year resident of Alameda, passed away December 29, 2003, at the age of 78.
A devoted husband and father, he is survived by his wife of 54 years, Cathryne Keys Allan; his children, Robert, and his wife Cheryl, and grandson Gregory of Elk Grove; Catherine Morgan of Alameda; and James and his wife, Kim of Acampo and grandson Daniel of Pleasant Hill. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Lawrence Allan of Ann Arbor, MI and Roye Allan of San Jose, CA.
He was a veteran of the US Army and was honorably discharged from the Air Force Active Reserve. Gilbert retired from the Almeda Naval Air Station after 30 years of service. He enjoyed camping and grew to love golf, in his retirement years.
Friends were invited to attend the memorial Service on Friday, January 2, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Christian Church, 2441 San Jose Ave., Almeda.
