Gavels have rough day

The Gavel Racing Team of Stratton made their way to Thompson, Manitoba last weekend in one piece, but their sleds came home a bit disjointed.
With the distance being so great, the team was happy Thompson is only a one day event. Rob, Danny and John all made the finals after heats, but things went down hill from there.
Rob finished 2nd in all his finals except the fan class where he blew a bearing and could not race it.
John finished 1st in the Masters, 2nd in the 30+ Open and 2nd in the Sport Fan. However, Dan finished 3rd in the Sport 600 final and then wrecked his sled in the Sport 440 final which put him in 8th in that race. The team could not get Dan’s sled back together in time for John to race his last race. Dan also missed his last race of the day due to the wreck. Missing these two races was unfortunate, especially since John and Dan are sitting high in the point standings.
The next race for the team is this Sunday in the Spring Hill Ski Area in Winnipeg, MB.
