Chamber looking for input on annual fund raiser
Sarah Berg
RR Chamber of Commerce
Over the past several summers, many brave local people have shaved their heads in an effort to raise money for a good cause.
In past years the event has been called “Cuts for Cancer” and all of the proceeds went to the Canadian Cancer Society. Last year the format was changed to “Cuts for a Cure” allowing the person whose head was shaved to donate the proceeds to the Charity or their choice. From the money earned last year, approximately two-thirds went to support local families that had been deeply effected by an illness, while the remaining third went to the Canadian Cancer Society.
This summer the Rainy River and District Chamber of Commerce hopes to organize an event such as this to run during our Centennial celebrations. Since the money that supports this event comes from the local citizens, the chamber feels it should be up to the community to decide where the money goes.
If you have an opinion of where the proceeds of such an event should be directed please contact a member of the Chamber of Commerce executive; Crystal Lindal, Sarah Berg, Amy Ruff, or Terri-Anne Lundgren.
