Leland Edward Forsyth

On April 29,2010, after a courageous battle with cancer, with his loving wife at his side, Leland passed away peacefully at his home in Dorion, Ontario .
He was born in Rainy River May 6, 1938, to Donald and Laura Forsyth, and grew up in the area. At the age of 16 he joined the P.P.C.L.I., Armed forces and after 23 years he retired in October of 1977. He and his family moved to Rainy River and at that time he worked for the Town of Rainy River, later they relocated to Dorion where he made a career in the forest industry.
Lee was a very devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and spending time with all the family. He was predeceased by his father Donald in 1971 and his mother Laura in 1990.
He is survived by his loving wife of forty five years, Henny (nee Thomassen) of Dorion, his daughters, Joan(& Alex) Iormetti of Nanaimo, British Columbia, Mona (& Jim) Jimenez of Miami, Florida, and his son Kenneth (& Tina) Forsyth of White River, Ontario. By two Grandchildren Anthony and Pamela Iometti.
By his twelve siblings - Ardelle (&Alex) Swanson, Leah Forsyth (&Eric Albo) of Thunder Bay, Jean (& Gerald) Lauzon and Janet Schaaf of Pinewood, Dale (& Cecilla) Forsyth, James (& Paulette) Forsyth, Darrell Forsyth, Wanda Saxberg, Karen Cates (& Jerry Renaud) all of Dorion, David (&Debbie) Forsyth of Hurrket, Ontario, Kathryn (& Bill) Scott of Custer, South Dakota, and Linda (& Brian) Russell of Rainy River. Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive him.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no service as per Lelands wishes. Arrangements were in the care of Elliot Funeral Home Ltd., Nipigon, Ontario. There will be a private family internment at later date.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre Foundation or Cancer Research.
Leland will be forever loved, always missed and just a memory away.
