The Baudette Just for Kix dance teams have again competed successfully under the direction of Amy Potts. The competition, involving over eighty teams, was held at Bison Arena in Fargo, ND on March 21, 2004. This was the second United We Dance Competition attended by our local teams.
Dancing to a Pepsi mix, the Baudette Mini Kix placed first in the Mini Kix Division AA category. The team is made up of fourth, fifth, and sixth grade students from the Baudette and Rainy River areas including Tasha Baldwin, Courtney Hansen, Micaela Jack, Emily Miller, Tegan Miller, Ally Moeller, Kelsey Rioux, Alyssa West, and Amity Whipple. The girls took home the first place plaque, outdancing teams from East Grand Forks, Lake Park/Audubon, and Kindred, ND.
Also competing was the Middle Kix team who took home the third place plaque for their routine to “Lose my Mind.” This group is made up of sixth and seventh grade girls from the Baudette and Rainy River areas including Katrina Baldwin, Billie-Rae Henkemeyer, Jamie James, Chelsea Miller, and Cassie Sunde. This team faced tough competition from Cooperstown, ND, Hankinson, ND, Thief River Falls, MN, and Washburn, ND.
Judging for the competition was based on projection (smiles and enthusiasm), execution (stiffness and tightness of moves, few errors, straight lines, synchronization) and skill (pointed toes, straight legs on kicks, etc.).
Baudette Just for Kix teams will be performing for the public in their spring show at the end of April.
