Rainy River strawberry social scheduled for May 5th

Hospital Auxiliary

Fifteen members came to our auxiliary meeting on April 5th. We opened with the auxiliary prayer, Rose Hanson read the minutes of the last meeting, and we approved them as read.
Business from the minutes included, the shampoo chair for the hospital has been ordered, and should be here anytime. There are 8 members going to the Spring Conference held in Kenora on April 16 & 17th. They are leaving on the 16th, Myrna Armstrong and Jeanette Armstrong are taking their vans. Buddy Hannam is still trying to get more smocks for our volunteers. Our centennial tea, to be held July 19th, will be held from the hospital, using the residents dining area, and hopefully the arbor will be built by then, we will also use it.
The financial statement was read in Doreen Kaus’ absence, and Myrna gave a report on the Tuck Shop. The children’s clothing has been going well, and Myrna will look into getting some new things shortly.
The only correspondence was from Meals on Wheels. We will again do the month of May, and Volunteers were listed for each week.
Old business. The Strawberry Social. Our raffle is a lawn swing with a canopy, and tickets are available from members or at local business’s We will have a penny table, door prize, and two new tables this year. 1 table of slips and bloomers (flower’s, roots, & bulbs) 2nd table sealer mixes (soups, cakes, brownies etc). The social is on May 5, cost $3.00, includes strawberry short cake and tea or coffee.
There will be a working meeting for our members on April 26th at the hospital, to prepare the items for our new tables, also bring your items for the penny table at this time. The phoning committee will phone on this. Also if you have some small scraps of material bring it.
To close our meeting Myrna Armstrong thanked those members who helped distribute the daffodils for the Cancer Society. Also Dorothy Markusson offered to give the ‘Thank you speech’ for the guest speaker at the Spring Conference.
