Second annual Walk for Memories to be held in Rainy River and Emo

Ken Johnston

Do not forget to mark your calendar for May 15, 2004. That is when the Second Annual Alzheimer Walk for Memories will be held in Rainy River.
This is one of eight Walk for Memories being held throughout the region this spring. Last year five walkers raised $1,188 in Rainy River and four walkers raised $225 in Emo.
The Alzheimer’s Society of Kenora-Rainy River is hoping that there will be more walkers this year with equally as good or even better fundraising results.
The top fundraiser in each of the 8 communities will win a hotel package for Winnipeg. Last year Marlene McNally won in Rainy River.
The walk will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the Rainy River Legion. The route will see walkers journey down to the international bridge and back. Each participant will receive a t-shirt. All ages are welcome to participate in this cause that helps raise money for Alzheimer’s research.
In Emo the Walk for Memories is scheduled for May 30, 2004. It will begin at 1:30 from the waterfront playground.
Sponsor sheets are available in Rainy River at Marmus Shell, Beaver Mills Market, True Value, Susans Corner Store, the Legion, Rainy River Drugs and from Linda Johnston. In Emo sponsor sheets are available from Cheryl McCallum or by calling Margaret at 1-800-682-0245.
