Joel Ashworth to represent RRHS at NWOSSAs
Donnie Gall
Coach
On April 14, 2004 seven RRHS badminton players went to Atikokan for the NORWOSSA playdowns. Players finishing first or second qualified for the NWOSSA playdowns which will be this Wednesday in Fort Frances.
Jr. Girls Doubles
Hillary Hanson and and Chantelle Heyens finished their season in 5th place with a record of 1-4. However, they did manage to beat the team from Atikokan one game out of three, which was impressive, as that team never lost a game all tourney. Great job girls!!!
Mixed Doubles
Peter Singleton and partner Carling Nordin also finished 5th with a record of 1-4. They had chances to make it by forcing 2 teams to 3 sets only to come up just short. They too had a great season!
Senior Girls Singles
RRHS had two competitors in this class. Jenna Yeo and Allison Wolanicki smashed the birdie to two top five placings. Allison finished the tourney in 5th place with a record of 1-4 and Jenna was one spot better in 4th with a 2-3 record. Both girls worked hard all year and did a great job this year!!!
Junior Boys Singles
Joel Ashworth finished the tourney in 3rd place with a 3-2 record only to find out that the 2nd place finisher from Red Lake would be unable to go to NWOSSA’s. That allowed Joel to slide into that spot. Joel also has had a great year and should do very well at the NWOSSA Championships this Wednesday.
Good Luck Joel!!!
