Rainy River Centennial ball set to roll this weekend

Jack Elliott
RR Centennial Committee

This week Debbie Armstrong and Kari Brigham are busy decorating at the Rainy River Recreation Centre in preparation for Rainy River’s Centennial Ball this Saturday, May 8.
The gala event gets underway with a cocktail hour at 7:30 and warm up, live entertainment by Borderland Musicians. Dancing to Mood Indigo commences at 8:30.
Later, after your attitude has been adjusted, your toes properly tapped, and limbs vigorously exercised from swinging your partner around the floor, there is a lunch break. Very Best Catering is laying the sumptuous table.
In the wee hours, expect to walk your baby back home under a waning full moon, fanned by a spring zephyr wafting in from the prairies. Ample horse and buggy parking is available- bring your own oats.
Dress is formal, semi-formal, or period-costume. And tickets from local merchants are only $20 each- that’s about 10 cents in 1904 dollars.
Sounds wonderful, doesn’t it? Rainy River’s next Centennial ball will not be held until May, 2104 and you probably won’t be around for that one. Better get your tickets for May 8, today!
