Former Morsonite says people are being childish

Letter to the Editor,
I have been residing in London and going to school here to better my future.
I would love to be able to live in Morson, close to my family, best friends and niece.
But as we all know, jobs are more then difficult to get, especially full time.
So I understand that these few positions that came up were important to all of those who applied.
But the part that more then makes me angry is that the people who did not apply are the ones making the most noise about who received them.
The councillors received the resumes and hired the people that they feel were the most qualified. Regardless of the fact that they are spouses, they would have gotten the job anyways. Based merely on qualifications and quality of character even if their spouses did not sit on council.
So people are basically saying that if a position comes up for which one is more then qualified, they are not allowed to apply? If the shoe was on the other foot where would you stand on the issue?
With regards to a previous letter, my father did not put a wage suggestion in his application for employment, so put that misconception where it belongs.
There seems to be many rumours flying around, as I have been reading the paper on line, hearing from family and friends from both sides of the issues.
Many will disregard this letter because my mother is on council and it is my father who received the labourer position. But don’t forget that I am also friends with someone who did not get the one job permanently.
But nobody has taken the time to hear both sides or even get the facts before they fly off the handle, causing people to fight and name call.
Why should my father feel threatened about a job? Why should he feel that his being hired is causing so much stress amongst the town’s people? Why should he not be happy that he will be able to provide for his family? Why should his getting a job, should he feel upset about his body and age? He’s not old and he is quite healthy.
Can you the residents of Lake of the Woods Township) not see that you all live in a small town and will see each other all the time? That calling people names and having all these conspiracy theories makes for a hard living?
I am , admittedly, sitting on the outside looking in..London is far away from “home”..but it is my HOME. And I am sorry to say , that it hurts to see that people back at home are acting worse than school children by ganging up and bullying.
Just take the time to know the issues at hand, and stop to think before you talk.
