Something smells bad in LoW
Letter to the Editor,
The decisions made with respect to hiring (in Lake of the Woods Township) were suspect to begin with and now the majority of council believes they can justify their actions by saying they each stepped out of the room so they couldn’t vote for their own spouse. This left council members to vote for other members‚ spouses, while they themselves had a spouse up for job as well. Confused? Yes, me too.
The bottom line is just because something is “legal,” it doesn’t make it any less unethical, underhanded, or just plain wrong. The fact that the mayor and the councillors with spouses now under contract are trying to defend their decisions on the basis of a thin technicality is just as troubling as the hiring decisions in the first place.
Something smells very bad in Lake of the Woods Township, and it’s coming from the council chamber.
Sincerely,
Justin Gaudry
