LoW/RR track team finish second at local meet

The Lake of the Woods/Rainy River track team hosted three other schools last Monday in Baudette and came out with a respectable second place finish overall.
The team’s only first place finishes came at the feet of Matt and Jay Neilson of Stratton. In the 1,600 metre run Matt finished first with a time of 5:05. His brother Jay was only 11 seconds behind him and finished second.
In the 3200m run Jay came in first with a time of 11:45. He was followed by Vincent Scott of LoW with a time of 11:49.
In the 4X800 relay LoW boys finished second with a time of 10:20.5.
In the 100m dash Brent Olson of LoW finished fourth with a time of 12.6. The top time was 12 seconds even.
In the 110m hurdles Tony Mio and Andy Miller of LoW finished third and fourth with times of 20 and 20.6 seconds. The top time was 19.1.
In the 4X400 relay the boys of LoW finished 4.9 seconds out of first with a time of 3:52. They were second, behind International Falls.
In the 4X200 relay they finished second with a time of 1:40.1. Roseau finished on top with a time of 1:36.4.
In the 4X100 relay LoW finished third with a time of 51 secs. Roseau finished first with a time of 46.1.
In the 400m dash Joe Cooper and Jeremiah Hodgson finished fourth and fifth with times of 59.3 and 1:03.7.
In the 300m hurdles Andy Miller and Tony Mio finished third and fourth with times of 48.7 and 51.3. The top time was 44.5.
In the 800m run Matt Neilson finished second with a time of 2:12.7. Top spot was taken by Robert Youso of I. Falls with a time of 2:10.9. Peter Atikinson of LoW came in sixth.
In the 200m dash Brent Olson came in fourth with a time of 24.9. Top time was 23.6 by Jeremiah Sellhein of Roseau.
In the high jump Jake Beckel of LoW came in second with a jump 5’4” high. Top jump was 5’8”.
In pole vault Tony Mio placed fifth with a jump 8’ high.
In the triple jump Tyler Bredeson of LoW finished fourth with a jump 35’2”.
Overall the team scored 138 points. The winner of the meet was I. Falls with 291 pts.
At the Warren/Alvarado Lions’ Invitational last Friday LoW competed against ten schools and finished fourth overall.
The only first place finish for LoW came in the 1,600m run when Matt Neilson ran a personal best 4:54.01, some eight seconds ahead of the nearest competitor.
Many other LoW track team members set personal records at this meet. In the 1,600m run Dylan Davis and Jaden Chorney ran 5:20.52 and 6:19.18 respectively. They finished fifth and seventh.
Joe Cooper and Jeremiah Hodgson set personal records in the 400m dash with times of 58.16 and 1:02.4. They finished fourth and seventh.
Tony Mio set a personal record in the 300m hurdles with a time of 50.86. He finished seventh. Finishing in sixth was Andy Miller with a time of 49.49.
Vince Scott and Jay Neilson also set personal records in the 3,200m run with times of 11:34.71 and 11:42.01. They finished second and third. Chris Heinrich and Jaden Chorney finished fourth and fifth with times of 12:35.92 and 14:31.94.
The team scored 56 points. The top team scored 155.
