Skylar Arpin recently cut 13 inches of her hair off and donated it to Evlyn's Wig Sales in Lorette, MB. to be used to make a wig for kids suffering with cancer.

RRHS hosted Sioux Lookout Warriors on Thursday. The junior boys volleyball team lost 3-0 but did have a good rally in the third game to challenge the visiting team. Bryson Jasper is seen here getting ready to bump a ball while his teammate Cody Armstrong backs him up. No other results for the games were made available by press time.

Not such a nice visit

The man at left, from Schreiber, Ont., was in Rainy River over the weekend to particpate in the volunteer firemen training and had a bad experience. Vandals smashed his back window out of his van an slashed a tire. Rainy River fireman Joe Bonhomme, right helped him put plastic over the window for the drive back home.

Volunteer firemen from across the west Rainy River District participated in Pumper Operations trainging in Rainy River over the weekend. Rainy River Volunteer Fireman John Jonassen is seen here operating a pumper station on a fire truck.

2009 RRWT Champs!

For the second year in a row, Jason Gibbins, left, and his partern Oliver Gibbins, won the RRWT. They are seen here with two of the fish, caught on day 1, that propelled them to victory. The fish on the left weighed 6.88 lbs.

Tipping the scales!

Ben Johnson, second from the left in the front row of spectators, watches anxiously as his pumpkin, the last one to be weighed, is on the scale. Weigh Master Guy Arpin, carefully adjusts the scale to get an accurate reading. It was heavy enough to win this year's festival, tipping the scales at 773 lbs.
